Michael is a first generation, indigenous Kichwa from East Harlem who is passionate about creating environments for constant engagement. As an architectural designer his interests lies on the intersections of cultural identity and architecture and how they inform one another. This feeds onto the attention to detail he places in every project. Prior to receiving his M.S in Advanced Architectural Design at Columbia University, he spent three years expanding his architectural understanding within the context of the Andean region in Ecuador. He appreciates the use of local construction methods and is curious in exploring how such archetypes coexist in today’s context.
